Why Western Carolina Planned Communites are so attractive.

Western Carolina has great weather!

Encompassing a wide range of elevations, from sea level on the coast to more than 6,000 feet in the mountains. The climate is close to that of land in New England or the upper Midwest. With four mild seasons to enjoy it is no wonder this part of the state is attracting so many second home buyers.

The western section of the state is part of the Appalachian Mountain range. Among the subranges of the Appalachians located in the state are the Great Smoky Mountains, blue Ridge Mountains, Balsams, Pisgahs, and the Black Mountains. The Black Mountains are the highest mountains of the Eastern United States, and culminate in Mount Mitchell at 6,684 feet, the highest point east of the Mississippi. The region also boasts some very large lakes such as Lake Glenville, Lake James Lake Natahala and other smaller lakes with spectacular secenery such as Bear Lake and Lake Rhodiss.

North Carolina offers an incredible range of activity from skiing in the mountains to golfing at some of the country’s finest resorts and clubs. Other attractions include fall foliage, freshwater and saltwater fishing, hunting, birdwatching, agritourism, ballooning, rock climbing, biking, hiking, skiing, boating, camping, canoeing, even spelunking. North Carolina has four mild seasons, theme parks, aquariums, zoos, museums, a wealth of historic sites, theatres, concert halls, and both fine dining and authentic country cooking.
